Glamorgan won this match by an innings on the second day. On the first day only 35 minutes of play were possible, which took place after lunch. Needing 118 runs to make Glamorgan bat again, the visitors were bowled out in under an hour for 42 runs.
For the winners, Creber took 10 wickets in the match for 57 runs and W H Brain scored 53. In the Glamorgan innings, W H Brain and Sweet-Escott added 52 runs for the eighth wicket. The five dismissals by W H Brain were the most by a wicket-keeper in a match during the season. Silverlock top-scored for the visitors with 44 that included 3 fours. Porter did not bat in the Monmouthshire first innings because he failed to arrive at the ground on the second day before 1.00 pm when the innings had been completed. The Monmouthshire second innings total of 42 was the second lowest of the season. Playing only 4 championship matches -- home and away against Glamorgan and Wiltshire -- Monmouthshire did not qualify for the final table.
