Wiltshire won this return match at 3.00 pm on the second day, after Monmouthshire had followed on 87 runs behind. Wiltshire thus completed the double over the home team, having also won at Trowbridge in July. For the winners, Overton took 10 wickets in the match for 51 runs. Snell top-scored with 70. Miller kept wicket for Wiltshire when Smart bowled. When Awdry had scored 16 runs in the Wiltshire first innings, he became the second player for the county to reach the career milestone of a thousand runs in championship matches.
