Oxfordshire won this return match by 127 runs at 5.20 pm on the second day, after Wiltshire had been set a victory target of 263 runs in three hours. The game at Swindon earlier in the month had been drawn. In the home team's second innings, Wood and A Rogers put on 73 runs for the last wicket. For the losers, Smart took 13 wickets in the match for 185 runs. Miller top-scored with 46 not out. The 185 runs Smart conceded in the match were the highest of the season. In the two Oxfordshire innings, Miller kept wicket when Smart bowled. When Miller had scored 33 in the Wiltshire first innings, he became the third player from the county to reach the career milestone of one thousand runs in championship matches.
