Yorkshire 2nd XI won this return match by 10 wickets shortly after 5.30 pm on the second day after causing a Staffordshire second innings batting collapse. Staffordshire had needed to win this match to avoid occupying the bottom slot in the Championship. The match between the two teams at Walsall in June had also been won by Yorkshire. Rain interruptions limited play on the first day to around four hours. The Staffordshire second innings total of 30 was the lowest of the season. J T Brown Jnr and Oyston bowling unchanged throughout the second innings. For Yorkshire, Elam and Rudston had an opening first innings partnership of 103 and there were 5 fours in Rudston's 68. W Brown's innings of 96 for Staffordshire contained 4 fours and lasted three hours and 5 minutes.
