The game at Aylesbury between the two teams in the previous week had been won by Buckinghamshire. Bassett top-scored with 56 not out, an innings of two and a half hours. His first innings of 47 lasted 160 minutes. For Buckinghamshire, the 78 overs and 38 maidens bowled by Wright were both the most bowled in a match during the season. The 21 maidens that Wright bowled in the first innings were the joint third highest in an innings. When catching Marsh in the Oxfordshire first innings, Cobb made his one hundredth dismissal in championship matches.
