This return match was won by Northamptonshire at 11.45 am on the second day by the margin of an innings and 202 runs.
The high-scoring game between the two sides at Northampton in June had been drawn.
For the winners, Thompson took 12 wickets in the match for 35 runs and East 8 for 34.
They bowled unchanged in both innings.
Kingston's 107 was scored in 3 hours and 15 minutes, and contained 11 fours, 2 threes and 16 twos, while Thompson's 53 included 6 fours.
In the Northamptonshire first innings, Kingston and Thompson put on 110 runs for the first wicket, and Kingston and East 101 for the second.
The two Northumberland innings lasted 45 and 40 minutes respectively.
The Newcastle Daily Journal pointed out that the wicket was 'even more tricky' on the second day than it had been on the afternoon of the first.
The Northumberland second innings total of 29 was the second lowest of the season, and the match aggregate of 350 runs was the third lowest for a completed match.
