Northamptonshire won this return match by 3 wickets at ? pm on the second day, after requiring 161 runs to win
in 3 hours.
After Kingston was second out in the second innings, 17 runs were required for victory, yet five further wickets fell before the winning runs were scored.
The game between the two teams at Northampton in May had also been won by Northamptonshire.
A new wicket was prepared before play began on the first day, as Stoke suffered what newspaper reports called a 'minor earthquake' over Sunday night and the original pitch cut for the match was found to be bumpy.
For the winners, there was 1 five, 8 fours, 11 threes and 5 twos in Kingston's 102, scored in 120 minutes.
For the losers, Barnes took 11 wickets in the match for 134 runs, including 7 for 72 in the Northamptonshire first innings.
In the Staffordshire second innings Fereday carried his bat for 46 not out.
In the Northamptonshire first innings, Crosse damaged his hand with the score at 43 for 1 wicket.
He returned to bat at the fall of the second wicket at 56.
For Northamptonshire, Thompson was injured and missed
the match, the only one in his Championship career.
