Monmouthshire won by an innings and 16 runs at 5.35 pm on the second day after enforcing the follow-on. It was the first time that a championship match had been won by a team losing only one wicket. The Monmouthshire declaration left 5½ hours for them to dismiss the home side twice. On the first day rain delayed the start until 12.40 pm, extended the lunch hour by 20 minutes, interrupted play for 10 minutes in the afternoon session, and stopped play at around 4.30 pm. The winners lost only one wicket in the game, the first time this had happened in a completed Championship match. For the winners, Silverlock and E S Phillips in an unbroken partnership put on 284 runs for the second wicket. It was a new partnership record for any wicket in the Championship, exceeding the 275 put on by for the third wicket by J H Hickin and A J Golding for Hertfordshire against Norfolk at Bishop's Stortford in 1900. There was 1 six and 22 fours in Silverlock's 155 not out, and 12 fours in E S Phillips's 133 not out. Steeples took 13 wickets in the match for 93 runs, including 9 for 45 in the Glamorgan second innings, which was statistically the second best innings bowling performance of the season. The 13 wickets for 93 runs was statistically the third best match bowling performance of the year. For the losers, Brain scored 58 not out.
In the Glamorgan first innings, Russell and Brain added 57 runs for the eighth wicket. Brain kept wicket for Glamorgan, but towards the end of play on the first day injured a finger, and Riches took over the gloves. The gate receipts for the game amounted to £26.
