Monmouthshire won by 192 runs at 3.40 pm on the second day, Cornwall having required 280 runs for victory in their second innings. For the winners, Silverlock carried his bat in an innings of 130 not out scored in 160 minutes, in which there were 20 fours and 5 threes. Diver scored 52 in thirty minutes with 10 fours. In the Cornwall first innings when the score was 77-4 wickets Trevarthen was hit in the stomach and retired hurt. He returned to bat at the fall of the ninth wicket, but failed to score before he was run out.
