Staffordshire won this return match by 10 wickets at 5.05 pm on the first day. Only four hours of play were required to complete the match. The game between the two sides at Halifax in July had also been won by Staffordshire. For the winners, Barnes and Mee bowled unchanged through both Yorkshire 2nd XI innings, taking 11 wickets for 46 runs and 9 for 35 respectively. Oyston and Elms bowled unchanged for Yorkshire 2nd XI. The aggregate of 165 runs for a completed match was the lowest of the season. The Yorkshire 2nd XI first innings total of 35 was the third lowest of the season. The wicket was described as being 'difficult after heavy overnight rain and brilliant morning sunshine'. The attendance was estimated at around 2000.
