Devon won this return match by 9 wickets on the second day after enforcing the follow-on. When the two sides met at Exeter in July, Devon had also won the match. For the winners, Aston took 13 wickets in the match for 168 runs, including 7 for 78 in the Berkshire second innings. There were 10 fours in Gwynn's 80 and 12 fours in Harrison's identical score. For Berkshire, there were 10 fours in G G M Bennett's 93 and 9 fours in Barrett's 61. In the Berkshire first innings, Rowe and Spencer added 75 runs for the eighth wicket. Rain interrupted play twice during the afternoon of the first day when Devon were batting.
