Staffordshire won this return match by an innings at 1.05 pm on the second day. Staffordshire had also won the game between the two sides at Stoke-in-Trent in July. Staffordshire had already won the Championship before this match was played. For the winners, Barnes and Mee bowled unchanged through both Cambridgeshire innings. Barnes took 15 wickets in the game for 107 runs, with 8 wickets for 49 runs in the first innings and 7 wickets for 58 wickets in the second. It was statistically the second best match bowling performance of the season. Brown scored 86 which included 12 fours and Hollowood 60. Thomas kept wicket for Cambridgeshire at the start of the Staffordshire innings, with Watts taking over the gloves later.
