Hertfordshire won by 195 runs at 6.15 pm on the second day. The Hertfordshire declaration set Bedfordshire a victory target of 316 runs in 2½ hours. For the winners, Clarke scored 75 not out, White 61, Dumbelton 54 and Titchmarsh 52. In the Hertfordshire second innings Clarke and Fastnedge added an undefeated 62 runs for the eighth wicket. For the losers, Wharmby took 10 wickets in the match for 142 runs, including 7 for 46 in the Hertfordshire first innings. The 67.1 overs he bowled where the most in a match during the season. In the Bedfordshire first innings, Golding fielded a hit by Cavanagh in the slips that lacerated his thumb and he took no further part in the match. For his bowling performance in the Bedfordshire second innings, Coleman is reported as having gained talent money.
