Lincolnshire won this return match by an innings and 12 runs on the second day. Northumberland had won the match between the two sides at Grantham in June. For the winners, there were 15 fours, 1 three and 9 twos in Wells-Cole's 124, an innings of 110 minutes. He injured a knee when his score was 90 and needed a runner for the rest of his innings. Cooke's 58 included
1 six and 8 fours. For the losers, Hill's 82 not out contained 12 fours and Marshall's 68 included 7 fours.
