Surrey 2nd XI won this return match by an innings and 221 runs on the second day, after enforcing the follow-on. The match between the two teams at Swindon in June had also been won by Surrey 2nd XI. For the winners, there were 2 fives, 24 fours, 3 threes and 6 twos in Spring's 135, scored in two hours, and 17 fours, 3 threes and 5 twos in Davis's 104, an innings of 2½ hours. They put on 235 runs for the seventh wicket. Abel scored 53. Hitch took 11 wickets in the match for 116 runs, including 8 for 87 in the Wiltshire first innings. The Surrey 2nd XI total of 498 was the second highest of the season. The 167 runs conceded by Miller were the most in an innings all season.
