Norfolk won this return match by an innings and 138 runs at 3.30 pm on the second day. When the sides met at Watford in July, Hertfordshire had won. For the winners, Smith took 15 wickets in the match for 92 runs, with 7 for 44 in the first innings and 8 for 48 in the second. It was statistically, the best match bowling performance of the season. Barratt's 115 contained 15 fours, 7 threes and 8 twos, an innings of 160 minutes, and Watson's 105 12 fours, 7 threes, and 7 twos, scored in 2 hours. These two added 189 for the sixth wicket. For Hertfordshire in the first ininngs Rudd and Coleman added 55 for the seventh wicket. Coleman strained a thigh when batting in the Hertfordshire first innings. He batted with a runner in both innings and could not field or bowl during the Norfolk innings. C A Orr acted as substitute fielder and caught Garnier. Several short showers interrupted play on both days.
