Cornwall won this return match, played in overcast conditions, by an innings and 40 runs at 2.30 pm on the second day after enforcing the follow-on. Dorset had won the match between the two teams at Camborne a week before. Rain delayed the start on the first day until 12.45 pm and stopped play between 1.15 pm and 3.00 pm. Slight rain fell at intervals on the second day but did not interfere with play. There was considerable criticism of the unevenness of the pitch and, as a consequence, it was decided to transfer to Blandford the match with Devon due to be played at Poole later in the week. For the winners, Hosking took 12 wickets in the match for 68 runs, including 7 for 34 in the Dorset second innings. W S Tresawna scored 68. At the lunch interval on the first day, a presentation was made to Hardy Manfield, the Hon Secretary of the Dorset Club, by F E Lacey, the Secretary of the MCC, of a double-barrel shot gun and a keyless hunting watch. Around one hundred subscribers in the County had contributed to the gifts.
[Missing: Umpires; extras breakdown; fall of wickets; in Cornwall inninnings boundaries in Tresawna's 68.]
