Northumberland won by 108 runs on the second day with 4 minutes remaining, after setting Lincolnshire a victory target of 237 runs in three hours. For the winners, Elsey took 10 wickets in the match for 86 runs. Gilman scored 92 and Richardson 76. In the Northumberland second innings, these two batsmen added 150 runs for the sixth wicket. Hibbert suffered from sunstoke and could not bat or field on the second day. Bradshaw, the Grimsby Town professional, fielded in his place. Geeson suffered from sciatica and was unable to bowl on the second day.
