Surrey 2nd XI won by 10 wickets on the second day. For the winners, Platt achieved the unusual feat of taking all 10 wickets in the Dorset second innings for just 15 runs, and 14 in the match for 97 runs. It was the only instance during the season when a bowler took all ten wickets in an innings. Platt also scored 123 runs in the match for once out, including an innings of 79 in the Surrey first innings. For the losers, Fowler scored 76 and Gordon 56. The Dorset second innings total of 31 was the lowest of the season. Newspaper reports suggest there was no significant deterioration in the wicket over the two days. This was the first championship match played at this venue.
