This return match was drawn with Hertfordshire winning on first innings, with Bedfordshire following on 191 runs behind. The result of the match would determine which of the teams won the East Division of the Championship and went on to play in the semi-final against Staffordshire, who were the winners of the North Division. The match between the two teams at Elstow School, Bedford in July had been won by Hertfordshire. For the home side, there were 12 fours and 5 threes in Titchmarsh's 104. Butcher scored 96 which included 12 fours and Harford 82. In the Hertfordshire innings, Butcher and Titchmarsh added 184 runs for the third wicket, and Harford and Marsh 127 for the last wicket. For the visitors, Wharmby's 89 contained 1 five and 8 fours and Peel's 51 included 5 fours.. The Hertfordshire total of 507 was the third highest innings total of the season.
