Staffordshire won by an innings and 23 runs at 2.45 pm on the second day. Cheshire needed 68 runs in their second innings to make Staffordshire bat again, and the last seven wickets fell for just 7 runs in 25 minutes, Bucknell taking 6 wickets for just 2 runs and for once over-shadowing Barnes. For the winners, there were 12 fours, 3 threes and 10 twos in Briggs's 101, an innings of 2½ hours. Morrice tip-scored for Cheshire with 32. Fallows hurt a toe while batting and did not field at the start of the Staffordshire innings and J Jones of Crewe Alexandra acted as his substitute. Fallows came on the field later and caught Bucknell.
