Surrey won this return match by an innings and 161 runs on the second day, after Berkshire followed on 324 runs behind. The encounter between the two teams at Reigate in July had been won by Surrey. For the winners, Jewell scored 154. He is reported as having been missed in the slips before he had scored, and giving three further chances before he was dismissed. Abel scored 67, Harrison 60 and the debutant Knight 53. For the losers, Nepean top-scored with 51.
