This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project - research is continuing on this scorecard which can be expected to change.
Rain-spoilt drawn semi-final match that saw Glamorgan proceed to the final on the basis of leading on first innings. No play was possible on the first day due to rain, and on the second day, after a new pitch had been prepared, the weather again limited play to about an hour before rain again set in at 12.25 pm and the play was abandoned for the day at 3.00 pm. On the third day conditions again delayed a start until 11.30 pm, half-an-hour after it was scheduled. For Glamorgan, there were 1 six and 3 fours in Riches's 53. For Nottinghamshire, Barnes took 7 wickets in the Glamorgan second innings for 30 runs. Staunton, the Nottinghamshire captain, subsequently wrote to the Secretaries of the MCC and the MCCA pointing out that some of the Nottinghamshire players had seen the Cardiff groundsman sweeping and tampering with the wicket at 8.00 am on the third day in contravention of the rules of the competition.
