Northumberland won by six wickets on the second day. Heavy overnight rain delayed the start by an hour on the first day and by an hour and twenty minutes on the second. For the winners, Elsey took 10 wickets in the match for 65 runs. There were 2 sixes and 4 fours in the debutant Norbury's 63. For the losers, there were 2 fours in H Brooks's 71. The attendance on the first day was estimated to be around 4,000.
