Suffolk won this return match by seven wickets before 3.00pm on the second day, thus avenging the defeat suffered at Lincoln back in May. For the winners, Hill-Wood scored 58 and Penfold took 7 wickets for 20 runs in the Lincolnshire second innings. For the losers, there were 4 fours in Thompson's 66. Six of the Suffolk team were making their first appearance of the season. On the first day, Bird and Hill-Wood arrived a few minutes late and substitutes fielded in their place. Cooke damaged his hand attempting to catch Hill-Wood during the Suffolk first innings and did not bowl again during the match.
