Norfolk won by an innings and 131 runs at 2.30 pm on the second day. For the winners, there were 10 fours in Raikes's 83, 3 sixes and 10 fours in Stevens's 74 and 7 fours in Birkbeck's 62. Raikes took 9 wickets in the match for 117 runs. For Cambridgeshire, Hayward's 77 included 6 fours. Tebbutt, who was captaining Cambridge, arrived late on the first day and Reid took the toss. Coulson had damaged his left hand in the match versus the MCC and, because it made a slow recovery, he did not bat in the Cambridgeshire second innings.
