Dorset won by 65 runs around 3.30 pm on the second day. The match had originally been arranged to be played at Newquay, but was transferred to Truro. In the Cornwall first innings, when the eighth wicket fell at 66, the home side still required 53 runs to save the follow on and this was achieved by J C Bickford-Smith and Hawken, who added 66 for the ninth wicket. In their second innings, Cornwall were set a victory target of 222 runs. For the winners, Webb took 10 wickets in the match for 73 runs, including 8 for 49 in the Cornwall second innings. There were 11 fours in Gordon's 68. For the losers, W N Bickford-Smith top-scored with 44, which contained 9 fours.
