Staffordshire won this match by an innings and 38 runs twenty minutes after lunch on the second day. The match between the two sides at Stoke-on-Trent in June had also been won by Staffordshire. For the winners Meakin scored 79 not out. Barnes, returning from international duties, took 12 wickets in the match for 50 runs. In Cheshire's first innings he took 3 wickets in his second over after lunch and 7 wickets fell in 30 minutes. A total of 13 catches were taken by Staffordshire in the match. 75 runs were added for the seventh wicket by Nichols and Meakin. For Cheshire Moorhouse was hit on the thumb by a ball from Barnes. This match was part of Cheshire's cricket week that featured the opening of the ground's new pavilion.
