Cambridgeshire won this return match by 8 wickets just before 5pm on the second day. The match between the two sides at Newmarket in July had been drawn. For the winners, there were 12 fours in K G Reid's 84, 12 fours in Tebbutt's 84, 14 fours in Hunt's 78, 7 fours in Hart's 56, and 6 fours in Ling's 52. Rose took 8 wickets in the match for 119 runs, including 6 wickets for 91 runs in the Suffolk second innings. In the Cambridgeshire innings Ling and Tebbutt added 125 runs for the third wicket, KG Reid and Rose 56 runs for the seventh wicket, and KG Reid and Hart 125 runs for the eighth wicket. The scoring rate for the Cambridgeshire first innings was reported as being over a hundred an hour. For the losers, there were 18 fours in Watson's 128, an innings of 2 hours and 35 minutes. Whatman's 77 included 10 fours and Mustard's 69 contained 7 fours. Cobbold took 9 wickets in the match for 186 runs, including 7 for 155 in the Cambridgeshire first innings. In the Suffolk second innings Watson and Whatman put on 171 runs for the first wicket and Watson and Mustard 111 runs for the second wicket.
