The match was drawn with no result on the first innings. There was no play until 3.15 pm on the second day owing to rain. Play ended at 3.45 pm following a thunderstorm. There were 3 sixes and 7 fours in Adamson's 54 and Bradford's 60 included 1 six and 6 fours. For Staffordshire, Hollowood top-scored with 48. For Durham, Deyes took 5 wickets for 60 runs whilst Cook took 3 catches. The Staffordshire captaincy devolved upon Scott by desire of Briggs, who preferred to be relieved of the responsibility. Barnes was absent due to playing in a Test match.
