This closely fought rain-affected return match ended as a draw with Cambridgeshire winning on first innings. Heavy rain stopped play at 5.00 pm on the second day with Suffolk requiring another 15 runs for victory with four wickets remaining. On the first day rain during the lunch interval delayed the resumption of play until 2.30 pm. On the second day, rain delayed the start until 1.55 pm and stopped play at 5.00 pm with 1½ hours play remaining. The rain was so heavy that the match was abandoned at 6.00 pm. It is reported that the first 15 overs bowled on the second day by Suffolk were maidens. For Suffolk, Penfold took 10 wickets in the match for 73 runs and Trudgett 9 for 95. In an innings of two hours, H L Wilson scored 67. For Cambridgeshire, Coulson took 8 wickets in the match for 64 runs. In the Suffolk first innings Bryan dismissed Blount and Whatman with successive balls.
