Bedfordshire won this return match on the second day, after enforcing the follow-on. Bedfordshire had required 76 runs to win in 90 minutes. The match between the two teams at Luton the previous week had been drawn. For the winners, Peel scored 64 not out. In the Cambridgeshire first innings Morcom took 6 wickets for 53. In the Bedfordshire first innings Peel and Grierson added 51 runs for the tenth wicket. For the losers, K G Reid scored 58 and Pigg 50. In the Cambridgeshire second innings K G Reid and Whybro added 72 runs for the eighth wicket. At the start of the Cambridgeshire first innings when the score was 3 without loss, Worsley was hit on the knee by a fast ball bowled by Morcom. He was forced to retire and played no further part in the match.
