For the winners Carroll’s 107 included 19 fours whilst Beech’s 105 was scored in 2 hours and 45 minutes and included 12 fours; they added 180 runs for the third wicket in 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Light scored 65, which contained 1 five and 10 fours.
Tate and Fishwick put on 70 for Devon’s last wicket before Shelley declared.
Debutant J Amory (who was also known as Heathcoat-Amory) had match figures of 10 wickets for 125 runs, including 6 wickets for 68 runs in Berkshire’s second innings.
